Privacy Policy - the basics

Data You Provide to Us

We refer to the data you provide as "Provided Information." We collect and process data when you:

  • Register online or place an order for our products or services.

  • Complete a customer survey or provide feedback via message boards, contact forms, or email.

  • Provide your email address to access a free resource.

  • Sign up for our newsletter or subscribe to our regular content.

  • Submit intake forms or applications for any of our services or programs.

Provided Information we collect may include:

  • Personal identification (name, email address, phone number, etc.).

  • Billing information (billing address, shipping address, payment information, etc.).

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we refer to both Device Information and Provided Information.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use Provided Information to fulfill orders placed through the Website (including processing payment, delivering products, and providing invoices and order confirmations). Additionally, we use Provided Information to:

  • Communicate with you.

  • Screen orders for potential risk or fraud.

  • Provide you with information or advertising about our products or services in line with your preferences.

We use Device Information to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (particularly your IP address) and improve and optimize our Website. We also use Device Information to track affiliate referrals.

What a Privacy Policy CAN Do:

  1. Inform Users About Data Collection: A privacy policy clearly explains what type of personal data Huntor's Helpers collects from users (e.g., names, email addresses, payment information) and how it is gathered (e.g., through forms, website cookies, etc.). This transparency builds trust.

  2. Explain How Data Is Used: It outlines the specific purposes for which data is used, such as processing memberships, sending newsletters, or improving website experiences. This ensures users know how their information benefits them and your business.

  3. Disclose Third-Party Sharing: If Huntor's Helpers shares user data with third parties (e.g., for payment processing or marketing purposes), a privacy policy informs users of this. This ensures compliance with legal standards, especially for services like Google or Facebook ads.

  4. Offer Control to Users: A privacy policy tells users how they can control their data. For instance, it may explain how users can opt-out of newsletters, request data deletion, or modify their account settings. It protects their rights over personal information.

  5. Ensure Legal Compliance: Having a privacy policy ensures Huntor's Helpers adheres to legal requirements, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). This protects your business from potential legal issues.

  6. Provide Contact Information: The privacy policy gives users a clear way to contact Huntor's Helpers if they have questions about their data or concerns regarding privacy practices. This is key to maintaining transparency and accountability.

What a Privacy Policy CANNOT Do:

  1. Guarantee Complete Security: A privacy policy cannot guarantee that user data will never be compromised. Even with the best security practices, there’s always a risk of breaches. However, the policy can assure users that reasonable steps are taken to protect their information.

  2. Allow Unauthorized Data Use: The privacy policy cannot give Huntor's Helpers permission to use user data in ways that are not clearly stated. For example, if the policy doesn't mention selling data to third parties, you cannot do so legally.

  3. Protect Against All Legal Liability: A privacy policy doesn’t completely shield Huntor's Helpers from legal issues. If the company fails to follow its own policy or mishandles data, it could still face lawsuits or penalties.

  4. Grant Unlimited Rights Over User Data: The privacy policy cannot take away user rights. Even if you state certain data will be collected, users have the right to request access, deletion, or correction of their data under many privacy laws.

  5. Stop Users From Sharing Their Own Data: While the privacy policy governs what Huntor's Helpers can do with data, it cannot prevent users from voluntarily sharing their own personal information on public platforms, like social media or forums.

  6. Replace Consent Requirements: Even with a privacy policy in place, Huntor's Helpers must still obtain explicit consent from users to collect and use certain types of data, especially sensitive information like health records. A policy cannot bypass this need for consent.

Privacy Policy Summary

A privacy policy protects users by informing them about what data is collected and how it’s used, while ensuring that Huntor's Helpers complies with legal standards. However, it doesn’t guarantee absolute data security, and it doesn’t provide a free pass to use data beyond the limits set in the policy.

It's a tool for building trust and transparency, which is crucial for an organization like Huntor’s Helpers that focuses on caregiving and community support. Make sure to keep it clear, accessible, and regularly updated to reflect any changes in data practices.
